The Month of February 2022!

Hello to all my beautifully created image readers! The month of February was such an amazing month. Not only did I celebrate black history month, but we also celebrated Valentine’s Day with the ones we love. Black History month is so important to me. Not only does this month give me time to reflect on how proud I am to be African American, but it also makes me reflect on my ancestors being brought to another continent against their will, with nothing. Their willingness to fight for everything such as equality and a dream that their children will have the opportunity to one day have a piece of the American dream from education to land, homes, and most of all the respect from everyone that encounters them. Not only did my great-great-great grandfathers and grandmothers and great-great grandfathers and grandmothers work hard by picking cotton, but they brought their own land. My great-great grandparents built the first church and store in my hometown and all their homes on their own land. My Grandmother and Great Aunt and Uncles are still alive today and continue to own this land in our small hometown. This makes me so proud that I have blood running through my veins of a people who worked hard and fought for equality such as voting rights and ultimately always wanted better for their children and children’s children.

I am here today because of the selfless sacrifices of my ancestors/family, and I want to thank my LORD and savior JESUS CHRIST for hearing their prayers and cries and allowing African Americans the same rights as everyone else in the United States. Today and every day I hold my head high everywhere I go because of many ancestors/family and civil rights leaders that came before me. I can talk to anyone I can go anywhere in America, and I can use the same restrooms as anyone else. This should encourage any African Americans who feels less than to educate yourself and remember there was a huge sacrifice for you to enjoy the basic freedoms we enjoy today.

We know American still has a long way to go but we must do our part by keeping the legacy going, by teaching our children to love the skin they are in and educating them on their history. This will show our children not to take for granted the basic freedoms they have today. Let us start today by being kind to one another. We know that our children learn from our examples. Children are a reflection of who we are and what we do. I would love to hear some of your reflections of Black History month. What are some of the many ways you teach your kids or grandkids how to be proud in who they are?

I never need a special day to celebrate love because we should show our loved ones love every day. But if there is a special day to heighten that love through acts of giving, I am all for it! (Lol). I pray that each of you are in a healthy relationship that brings you love. I would love to hear what some of you received for Valentine’s Day, even if you didn’t get anything monetary. Maybe your spouse or significant other made you dinner or wrote you a nice love letter or gave you a beautiful card. Whatever the case maybe, I would love to hear how your loved one made that day special just for you! My husband, well he surprised me with my favorite chocolates from a specialty candy store and I received some gorgeous earrings I’ve been wanting. These earrings are not diamonds but costume jewelry it doesn’t matter because I loved them just the same as if they were diamonds (lol).  The fact that my husband thought enough of me by taking the time to order both my favorite chocolates and earrings shows me that he not only cares but thinks enough of me to want to make me happy and share in that special day and I love him for that! (lol)
